For the attention of joint RMPP and RMSPS members

You will have received a letter from the Royal Mail Pension Plan (RMPP) earlier this year to advise you of the transfer of part, or all, of your benefits to Rothesay Life.

RMPP are working through and documenting how benefits are calculated and administered to ensure that Rothesay Life can carry on calculating and paying members’ benefits after the transfer.

Additionally, RMPP are working with Rothesay Life and an independent external firm to ensure that all the member data that is transferred is correct.

To allow adequate time for all the checks to be completed, and as a result of adhering to new working practices as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown, the RMPP Trustee has decided to put back the date for the transfer of benefits to at least 2021.

Your RMPP annual benefit statement

In the past, this statement covered your benefits in the Royal Mail Statutory Pension Scheme (RMSPS) and your benefits in the RMPP combined. As the administration of the RMSPS was transferred to Capita in November 2019 you will receive a separate statement setting out your RMSPS benefits at the end of September.

Your RMPP statement will follow once the data transfer and review is complete. This is currently expected to be in the first half of 2021. This statement will show the benefits that are being transferred to Rothesay Life. If you are already receiving a pension, RMPP will also send you a letter to confirm the benefits that are being transferred and which will be paid by Rothesay Life in the future.
