If you are a dependant pensioner and recently received a letter asking you to confirm your personal circumstances, then we encourage you to respond (if you haven’t already).
Why are you asking me this?
We are proud to support dependant members so they are financially secure as per their spouse or partner’s wishes. However, we are obliged to ask all dependant pensioner members to confirm your status to avoid any overpayment of pension benefits which would need to be recovered and paid back to the Scheme.
If there are no changes to your personal circumstances (i.e. you have not remarried or entered a new Civil Partnership) you will continue to be entitled to your dependant pension benefits from the Scheme. We would be grateful if you could confirm this to us so we can make sure our records are up to date.
Sometimes dependant pensioner members don’t realise that they need to tell us that they have remarried, entered a new Civil Partnership or are no longer financially dependent on their RMSPS pension.
What happens next?
Complete and return the Dependant’s declaration form sent to you so we can update your current status or email the online form here to enquiries@rmsps.co.uk
If you are not able to complete the form or have any questions, please call us on 0333 222 0078 (+441325 271 861 overseas).
