Guaranteed Minimum
Pension equalisation
August 2025 update

Have you received a Guaranteed Minimum Pension equalisation impact letter?

05 August 2025

The Scheme is issuing more GMPe impact letters to members who haven’t already been informed about how GMPe affects their pension.

We previously wrote to some members in 2023 and 2024 to let you know if you were affected by having built up pension benefits while working for Royal Mail Group or any of its subsidiary companies between 17 May 1990 and 5 April 1997. If we did, you’ll receive a further letter from us explaining any changes to your pension.

For background information, please read this news article. If you have further questions, visit our 'FAQs' page.

If you need support relating to your financial concerns, we have also provided a list of organisations and assistance schemes that might be able to help. You can find this information on our ‘Contact us and financial support’ page.

Future changes to your pension benefits

We will continue to review the GMPe part of your pension regularly to ensure that it remains equal to a member of the opposite sex. We’ll write to let you know if any further GMPe changes are required to your pension in the future.

The review will take place annually and at the same time as the annual pension increase (every April). This is when we inform Scheme members of changes to their pension benefits. The next increase comes into effect in April 2026 and you will receive a separate letter regarding this.
